TFMoran is providing civil and structural engineering services for Maugel Destefano Architect’s and SMC Management Corporation’s latest project, The Poet Hill Residences, in Worcester, MA. Thursday, March 27, 2025, marked a major milestone of this project with a topping-off ceremony. This event celebrates the completion of the structural framework of the building under construction.
This project is a 210-unit, market-rate housing development located in the Poet Hill neighborhood of Worcester, MA. Situated on a 5-acre parcel along Hemans Street, the project features five stories of modern residential units above a double-podium parking garage, offering a mix of contemporary design and functionality.
The development takes full advantage of the site’s natural slope, with a residential courtyard positioned atop the parking deck, level with Hemans Street. This space will include community amenities such as gathering areas, grilling stations, and a Bocce court, creating a vibrant, resident-focused environment.
Despite the challenges posed by a harsh winter in a location atop a hill in one of the most climate-intensive cities in Massachusetts, the project has stayed ahead of schedule. Working alongside Maugel Destefano Architects and SMC Management has ensured smooth progress. Interior work has continued without delay, keeping the development on track and moving closer to completion!

Members of the TFM staff turned out at the New Hampshire Business Review’s Best of Business (BOB) Awards Celebration on Thursday, March 13th at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. This year’s theme was “Tailgate Party,” inviting guests to sport their favorite team gear! With multiple locations, the organization provides programs that offer a safe and welcoming environment for kids, especially those of early and late working parents, fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection.
Thank you NHBR Readers! And congratulations to all the BOB Award winners!
TFMoran is proud to announce our sponsorship to the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Oscar Barn fundraiser. This fundraiser allows the NHCADSV to work on preventing violence before it occurs and ensure quality services are available to victims and survivors of crime.
NHCADSV was formed in the 1970’s during the height of the women’s movement. Since then, the Coalition has worked collaboratively with many local, state, and federal partners to further the common goal of ending domestic and sexual violence. The Coalition is a statewide network of 12 member programs to remain committed to ensuring quality services are provided to survivors and that education and prevention are at the forefront of that work while influencing public policy and promote social change, bringing the goal of a safer Granite State for all!
If you or someone you know needs help, support, or information, you can call the statewide helpline to talk with an advocate. In emergency situations, call 911.
At TFMoran, we are proud to be actively engaged in our local community, supporting a variety of youth organizations. This includes sponsoring NH Envirothon, an inspiring educational program that provides students with hands-on experience in environmental sciences and natural resource management.
About NH Envirothon:
Live Free and Conserve!
Since 1992, NH Envirothon has been empowering teens to make informed decisions about the environment and natural resources. Through real-world, hands-on learning experiences, the program sparks curiosity and passion for environmental issues. Many students leave the Envirothon program motivated to pursue careers in environmental studies, environmental law, natural sciences, and resource management.
Envirothon Competition
Each year, volunteer advisers work with teams of students, supported by local conservation districts, forestry associations, and various natural resource organizations. Students are tested on their knowledge in five key areas: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current environmental issues.
Through the program, participants gain critical teamwork, resource management, and ecological skills, while also exploring potential career paths in the environmental sector.
The Envirothon Competition is a dynamic, cross-disciplinary experience that goes beyond science, integrating elements of history and cultural studies. The program is open to all high school students, and teams may be formed by schools, homeschool groups, agricultural associations, scout troops, or community service organizations. Teachers, home-school parents, scout leaders, and group mentors can help build teams, whether as part of a class, club, or after-school activity.
It’s National Women in Construction Week 2025! Organized by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), Women in Construction (WIC) Week, with the theme of “Together We Rise” celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play for the future of the construction industry. This year WIC Week is running from March 2nd-8th, shines a spotlight on the incredible women shaping the construction industry and honors the achievements of women in a variety of roles—from builders, engineers, and surveyors to project managers, administrators, and leaders.
WIC Week not only celebrates the vital contributions women make across the construction sector, but it also aims to raise awareness and inspire future generations to pursue careers in this dynamic field. Since its inception in 1998, NAWIC has used WIC Week as a platform to promote the success and impact of women in construction. As we mark the 27th year of WIC Week, let’s continue to build on this legacy and inspire change for a more inclusive and diverse industry!
Kyra Higgins Enviromental Scientist, TFMoran, Inc.
Published in High Profile Magazine March 2025
Kyra Higgins is an Environmental Scientist at TFMoran. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability from the University of New Hampshire. She is passionate about environmental education as well as finding innovative, nature-based, equitable solutions to the pressing natural resource and climate-related issues.
Kyra says a project she is most proud of is a Wetland Functional Assessment Report she completed in Fall of 2023 for a large residential development in Bedford, NH. She says, “With a tight deadline, I worked overtime to ensure the report was thorough and detailed, particularly on wetlands and proposed avoidance techniques. A few weeks later, the NHDES reviewer praised the report for its organization and use of their Wetland Rules. This feedback was rewarding, as it showed that my hard work made a positive impact while strengthening TFMoran’s Relationship with NHDES. It was encouraging for future coordination and finding common ground between developers and state agencies”
Kyra’s mom has been her biggest inspiration in her career. Kyra says, “She worked full-time while always balancing family and career. She left the finance industry to become a fitness trainer, following her passion. Her journey reminds me to pursue what excites and motivates me.” Kyra’s advice to the next generation of women in AEC: ” Find your passion, even if it takes time, and trust that when you’re passionate, you’ll do your best work!”
