TFMoran Installs Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Marty Gavin, one of TFMoran’s survey technicians, installed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at the TFMoran-Bedford office. It is located on the first floor in the central hallway between the civil engineering and survey departments.

TFMoran obtained this life-saving medical device via the State of New Hampshire’s “AED Direct Purchase Opportunity”. Bill Wood, Preparedness & Special Projects NHFST & EMS gave a presentation to our safety committee explaining the options available and their use.  The committee chose the defibrillator “LifeLine” sold by Defibtech, LLC.

Bill provided our Bedford employees with a complimentary “AED Orientation Session” on May 11th. The session covered the medical/legal protections, a review, and demonstration of the equipment. Thank you to the State of New Hampshire for offering this great program, that may one day save someone’s life. To learn more about the AED, click on this link New Hampshire Department of Safety.

According to the American Heart Association , “An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can potentially stop an irregular heart beat (arrhythmia) and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). SCA occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. If not treated within minutes, it quickly leads to death.”
