TFMoran is a proud sponsor of the McKelvie Intermediate School Move-A-Thon, an event to raise funds to provide students and teachers with useful resources in and out of the classroom. In years past, some of these resources included updated technology and Chromebooks for student use, updates to the McKelvie courtyard and playground, and teacher “wish list” items that enhance classroom instruction and lessons. This years funds will go towards updating student spaces within the library, additions to the playground and providing teachers with “wish list” items for their instructional use.

TFMoran Supports NH Envirothon

TFMoran is deeply involved in our local community and we support many youth organizations. Recently, TFMoran made a donation to support NH Envirothon, an educational program for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of environmental sciences and natural resources.

More about NH Envirothon:

Live Free and Conserve!

Since 1992, NH Envirothon has inspired teens to make responsible environmental and natural resource decisions through real-world, hands-on educational experiences. Many students step away from the Envirothon experience excited about learning and motivated to pursue careers in environmental studies, environmental law, natural sciences, and natural resource management.

Envirothon Competition

Each year, volunteer advisers coach teams with assistance from local conservation districts, forestry associations and participating natural resource agencies and organizations. Students are tested on their knowledge in five topic areas: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife and current environmental issues. Through the program, students develop an understanding of effective teamwork, resource management and ecology. At the same time, they gain valuable exposure to a range of disciplines while exploring possible career paths. Winning teams from each participating state and province advance to the National Conservation Foundation Envirothon (NCFE) to compete for national recognition, scholarships and prizes.

The Envirothon Competition is an amazing cross-curriculum adventure, impacting not only the sciences but history and cultural studies as well. Teachers, home-school parents, scout and group leaders can build a team. Some educators involve a whole class, others advise teams of five members as a club or after school activity. Open to all high school students, a team may be sponsored by a school, home-school group, agricultural association, scout, or community service group.

The NH Envirothon program is administered by the NH Association of Conservation Districts (NHACD). Other supporters include the NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), Society of American Foresters | Granite State Division, NH Association of Conservation Districts, Society of Soil Scientists | Northern New England, the Fox Research and Demonstration Forest, and NHTI.

TFMoran Supports Friends Program “Home Stretch” Emergency Housing Renovation

TFMoran is supporting the Friends Program in their “Home Stretch” emergency housing renovation.

The Home Stretch Campaign is a 3-part shelter expansion and renovation project that aims to increase the number of families who may be assisted and create a comfortable space to decrease the emotional stress of emergency housing.

The Friends Emergency Housing family shelter is not a long-term housing solution, but the closer to “home” that a temporary room can feel, the easier it is for families, especially children, to settle in and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
Families accounted for nearly forty percent of all people experiencing homelessness in New Hampshire in 2021, and the Friends Program is one of few permanent programs offering shelter year round to families in the greater Concord area. The construction of a ninth bedroom will connect an additional 15-25 individuals with emergency housing each year, and as the financial impacts of COVID-19 weigh on the wallets of already-struggling families, the Friends Emergency Housing Program is preparing to respond to an increased number of families experiencing homelessness.

Friends Home Stretch

Phase two of the project is currently underway. With the support of the community, the Friends Program will be able to assist an additional 100 to 140 families in the coming years.

TFMoran COO Dylan Cruess attended the phase II groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, September 6th. TFM is a proud supporter of the Friends Program and can’t wait to follow the progress!

Friends Program Emergency Housing has provided a 24-hour, 7 days a week shelter for families since 1980. The program provides intensive, community-based case management and short-term housing, aftercare and outreach services for families at risk of future homelessness. Families are provided with critical, temporary emergency housing, as well as support, education, training and skills that help position them to secure long-term and stable housing for themselves.

Merchants Way Buildings OK’d

By Jonathan Phelps, Union Leader August 26, 2023

A new development in Concord has gained a lot of attention since a New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet and a Market Basket opened there. But that’s all just part of the project’s first phase.

The second phase of Merchants Way will include an urgent care center operated by Concord Hospital and a mixed-use medical/retail building. The planning board approved the plans on July 19.

“We’ve come a long way in the past couple of years. It’s amazing how much this area has changed,” developer Laurie Rauseo told the planning board last week.

No tenants have been announced for the mixed-use building.

Two additional buildings will be considered in the future as part of phase “2C,” and phase three will include an industrial building in the rear of the property.

Service Credit Union and Jersey Mike’s Subs recently opened in the plaza.
