TFMoran Attends Union Leader Symposium Series: Women in Engineering

On March 24, the Union Leader hosted a virtual Women in Engineering Symposium. During this event, panelists discussed their own experiences and provided tips for other women to succeed in 2021. This is the second year TFM was a corporate sponsor for this event.

Panelists included Kristin Smith, Ph. D., MPH Research Associate Professor of Sociology at Dartmouth College; Nikki Delude Roy, PG Vice President of GeoInsight, Inc.; Laurie Perkins, PE Associate Vice President, of Wright-Pierce; and Heidi L. Caprood, PE Project Manager, of Sanborn Head & Associates, Inc..

65 participants joined the discussion by answering poll questions regarding their own work / life balance.

A conclusion that all agreed upon was that the expectations of workers in 2021 will be directly effected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. A common theme among the panelists was flexibility. Especially as working mothers, the women panelists felt that the outcome of all this is that people will continue to work schedules that work for them without the stigma previously attached to it. In the midst of the pandemic, companies have found that flexible hours and schedules can work, especially when balancing work and life. In a poll, participants were asked whether they feel they have a good work/life balance in 2021. 65% of participants said they feel so-so, while 19% said they don’t and 16% said they do.

It was a very interesting discussion to attend! Thank you to the Union Leader for putting this together!

The Symposium is now available on-line.

TFMoran Honors Our First Class Survey Team during National Surveyors Week 2021

This week (March 21-27) TFMoran is celebrating National Land Surveyors Week!

All engineering work is ultimately based on accurate survey. Whether it takes place outdoors or indoors; it all begins with survey – a solid understanding of existing conditions – and ends with survey – making sure the work is put in the right place. That is why we at TFMoran are proud to recognize National Surveyors Week. Our history of combining the best in survey with the best in engineering stretches back over 50 years. Join us this week as we honor our first class survey team:

Licensed Land Surveyors: Corey Colwell, LLS – Michael Hammer, LLS, PLS – Brenda Kolbow, LLS, PLS – Hans Mertsch, LLS, PLS – Tom Berube, LLS, PLS – Stephen Bibeau, LLS – Philip Trombley, PLS – Mo Vander Pol, III, SIT

Field Technicians & Crew:  Mike Burt; Tom Wood; Rich Ward; Aaron Lamond; Todd Emerson; Marty Gavin; Giuseppe Granara; and Jonathan Devine, EIT

We appreciate all that they do!

Our surveyors are a crucial part of the TFMoran Team, providing clients and engineers with the precise measurements they need for a successful project. We recognize the dedication and outstanding work of our Survey Department Managers:  Mike Hammer, LLS, PLS  and  Brenda Kolbow, LLS, PLS.   Mike manages TFMoran’s Bedford Survey Department. He brings over 30 years of survey experience to the team and is licensed in the states of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Brenda manages TFMoran’s Seacoast Division Survey Department.
