TFMoran sponsors The Jenny Fund’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament

On August 21, 2020 TFMoran sponsored The Jenny Fund’s 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield, NH. $45,000 was raised for cancer research from this year’s most successful event, yet. The tournament helps support the Translational Brain Tumor Immunology Laboratory at Mass General Hospital (MSG) whose research has advanced treatment for patients with cancerous brain tumors. Last year, The Jenny Fund events raised $70,000 for MGH cancer research, double that of what they raised in 2018!

The Jenny Fund was created in memory of Jennifer Gureckis, a 28-year-old New Hampshire resident who lost her years long battle with recurring brain cancer in 2017. After her diagnosis, she completed her Bachelor’s in Biology at Saint Anselm College, and went on to work towards her RN- all while seeking out clinical trials for her treatment in the hopes that she could help contribute towards finding a cure.

TFMoran & Eckman Construction complete Welcome Center at Saint Anselm College

TFMoran and Eckman Construction recently completed a new two-story, 9,600 square foot Welcome Center for Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. Both firms have been working together for decades on numerous projects to expand and improve the college campus.  Eckman Construction led the NH-based Design/Build team for the new Welcome Center.  In addition to TFMoran, who provided surveying, civil/site design, permitting, and landscape architecture, the team also included Dennis Mires, PA as project architect.

The Savard Welcome Center is now complete and ready to welcome students back to campus for the fall semester. Located on the oldest part of the hilltop campus next to Alumni Hall, the new facility replaces the former school bookstore.  TFMoran engineers and landscape architects tailored their design and plantings to match this unique and prominent location in the heart of the college campus. Eckman Construction devised a work plan to handle the challenges of building within tight site limits, while abutting active parking lots, academic buildings, and busy pedestrian ways of the occupied campus.

The new facility houses admissions staff and serves as the first stop for prospective students and their families. Features include a large lobby space to welcome visitors, a presentation room, outdoor patio space, as well as a 1,200 square foot function room with modern AV providing space for highlighting the college’s programs, lectures, alumni reunions, homecoming, and other college events.

TFMoran Sponsors American Society of Civil Engineers’ New Hampshire Scholarship Golf Outing

On August 21st, 2020, the American Society of Civil Engineers New Hampshire Section (ASCE-NH) hosted their 2020 Annual Scholarship Golf Outing. The scholarship program was started in 2000 to encourage high school students to pursue an engineering degree (in any discipline, not just civil).  Annually, ASCE-NH awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors and civil engineering students at the University of New Hampshire, with the value of the scholarship’s dependent on the success of their fund raising.  ASCE-NH issued a record $20,000 in scholarships in 2020 and is hoping to at least match that effort in 2021.

The tournament was held at the Beaver Meadow Golf Club in Concord, NH. Due to Covid-19, special precautions were observed promoting social distancing and mask use which resulted in a safe and fun day for all those that participated.  The tournament included a continental breakfast, shotgun start, lunch, raffle, contests, and games. TFMoran Senior Project Manager and ASCE-NH Treasurer, Nick Golon played in the tournament this year and came home with a new golf club courtesy of the raffle.  The TFM Team didn’t finish first but scored a rare Eagle (two under par) on a par 4 courtesy of Kurt Nelson knocking in a 120-yard chip.  That shot along with the fantastic weather made for a great day for the Team.

TFMoran was a proud PLATINUM Sponsor of this ASCE-NH Scholarship fund raising event, along with Continental Paving and WSP.

Thank you to ASCE-NH for supporting young and aspiring engineers and putting on another great event!

A Big “Thank You” from the Philippines as TFMoran donates to “Help the Hunger”

Dahriz Colwell
Dahriz Colwell

The village of Mangagoy Bislig, Philippines couldn’t be more appreciative, having received much needed food supplies as their families struggle during this Coronavirus pandamic. The bags of food given to each family were provided by donations made through a GoFundMe page called “Help the Hunger” created by Dahriz Colwell. Dahriz is the wife of TFMoran’s seacoast division manager and a principal of the company, Corey Colwell, LLS.

The Philippines village is Dahriz’s hometown and she wanted to help in anyway she could.  Dahriz got busy at her sewing machine creating masks that she donated to help keep her neighbors and others stay safe during the pandemic crisis.  In turn, people offered to pay for their masks. Though the masks were free, Dahriz offered a suggestion of donating to her cause through the GoFundMe page. And, people were glad to do so, making a difference in many lives who are less fortunate.

TFMoran made a $500 contribution as a thank you to Dahriz for supplying TFMoran’s Bedford and Portsmouth offices with masks for every employee. To date $1,155 has been raised as a result of Dahriz’s mask-making efforts. 100% of the proceeds go directly to food for her hometown village.

TFMoran was thrilled to receive photos from Dahriz of the smiling village residents gratefully receiving colorful bags filled with much needed food supplies, and for their extra effort in making a “Thank You” banner and taking photos. We appreciate Dahriz and the Colwell family for their compassionate community involvement, locally and in the Philippines.
