TFMoran gives $3,000 to help with NH hunger during the Holidays

This year has been a challenging one for many businesses, families, and individuals due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. With statewide social distancing guidelines in place, TFMoran’s annual company holiday lunch for more than sixty employees was unable to take place. Instead, TFMoran’s principals donated what would have been the cost of the holiday lunch to local food banks. It is estimated that this contribution will provide approximately 6,000 meals in total, to New Hampshire people in need.

On December 8th, Abby Sprackland from The New Hampshire Food Bank visited TFMoran’s Bedford office receiving a check from Dylan Cruess, TFMoran’s COO and Principal for $2,000. The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, has been working to relieve hunger in the Granite State since 1984. The New Hampshire Food Bank procures and distributes food through more than 400 non-profit registered agencies including food pantries, low-income housing sites, family crisis centers, soup kitchens, senior nutrition centers and emergency shelters. Since the spread of COVID-19 there are approximately 1 in 7 men, women and children in New Hampshire who are food insecure, a projected 55,500 additional people and in total more than 181,090 across the state, a 69% increase.

“We are grateful to TFMoran for their generous donation which will help to provide approximately 4,000 meals this holiday season,” said Eileen Liponis, Executive Director, New Hampshire Food Bank, “The pandemic has brought on many unprecedented challenges for our neighbors this past year. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, especially around the holidays.”

On December 9th, TFMoran’s Portsmouth office staff and its Division Manager and Principal, Corey Colwell, presented a $1,000 check to the seacoast food pantry Gather.  On behalf of Gather,  Seneca Adam Bernard, Associate Executive Director, and Arthur Cousins, Pantry/Warehouse Manager, accepted the donation.

Gather is based in Portsmouth, NH and serves all ages in the Greater NH Seacoast region including Rockingham and Strafford Counties. Gather’s mission is to make the Greater Seacoast a hunger-free community by distribute nourishing food to people who do not have enough to eat; take a leadership role in building an equitable and sustainable regional food system; and galvanize public support for ending hunger. Gather is also the Seacoast’s only preventative health-focused food pantry, meeting the hunger needs of this community through the provision of fresh healthy food.

Congratulations to Bank of NH Stage for receiving a Plan NH 2020 Merit Award of Excellence

TFMoran is honored to be a part of the award-winning project team for the renovation and rehabilitation of the historic Concord Theatre, now known as Bank of NH Stage. The theatre, owned by the Capitol Center for the Arts, was a recent recipient of the Plan NH 2020 Merit Award of Excellence.  The project team included the developer The Duprey Companies;  construction manager Milestone Engineering and Construction; and architect Dennis Mires, PA The Architects. TFMoran provided both civil and structural engineering services for the preservation of the 140-year-old building located on South Main Street.

Plan NH describes the award-winning Bank of NH Stage:

“In spite of the challenges of working with such an old building to get it to where they wanted, today the venue is eclectic and flexible.  It can easily be walked or biked to from within the downtown, and it is on a bus route.  In addition, its flexible space means that a younger generation can stand and move with its music – or, other performances can be done in a more intimate setting.  It is a welcome addition to an already-vibrant downtown.”

Each year, Plan NH holds its annual Merit Award Program to honor exemplary built environment projects that have a positive impact on the community. All nominations are reviewed by a jury of engineers, planners, architects, and others. The jury selects projects that demonstrate social responsibility, Smart Growth principals, and creative approaches to collaboration and cooperation. This year, due to covid-19 pandemic, the presentation was held virtually.

Congratulations to the other 2020 recipients of the Plan NH Merit Award of Excellence:  MoCo Arts (Keene)23 Ammonoosuc (Littleton);  and Madbury Public Library

Congrats to NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire for a successful Manchester West Side RENEW project!

As a proud supporter, TFMoran’s Dylan Cruess, COO was invited by Executive Director Robert Tourigny of NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire to the unveiling of their completed West Side RENEW project at 459 Granite Street in Manchester. Typically, a ribbon-cutting ceremony would have marked the completion of this special project, but due to the current pandemic situation, instead of a group gathering, the property was shown social-distanced to the fundraisers who helped make this redeveloped housing project possible. Last fall TFMoran donated $5,000 in support of this important housing initiative to redevelop and preserve properties on Manchester’s West Side. The building was previously an uninhabitable and was purchased at a tax auction from the City of Manchester in 2018. Through a variety of funding sources and with the help of the business community, 459 Granite Street, with its cheery yellow doors, is now home to four working families. The one and two-bedroom affordable-apartment rentals include heat and hot water for between $1,000 and $1,050 per month.

To read more about the project in “Neighborhood Minute”, click this pdf link NWSNH_Fall 2020

Congratulations to NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire for receiving the “2020 Housing for Everyone” award by the TD Charitable Foundation in support of the West Side RENEW initiative!
