TFMoran Structural Engineers were proud to be a part of the 2016 Building on Hope project team for the Manchester Police Athletic League. MPAL is housed in the Michael Briggs Community Center located on the corner of Beech and Laurel Streets. Built in 1910, the building underwent a $1.8 Million community-funded “extreme makeover”, made possible by hundreds of local companies donating services, time and materials. Building on Hope co-chair and project architect, Jonathan Halle of Warrenstreet Architects designed renovations including two existing floors (total 16,500sf) to provide a community room with a full commercial kitchen, exercise room, boxing and judo areas, classrooms, office and meeting space, and new bathrooms and lockers.
MPAL is a non-profit after school athletic organization that connects cops and kids, offering numerous recreational and academic programs to all kids free of charge.
MPAL Building on Hope Project received the 2017 Merit Award for Honorable Mention for Excellence in Planning, Design, and Development.
