TFMoran in association with Division 5 Metals of Amherst, NH provided structural engineering design and construction administration services for this new warehouse addition to the Tree House Brewing Company facility in Charlton, MA. Austin Design of Greenfield, MA and Brattleboro, VT was the architect for the project. The 76,700 square foot addition provides much needed storage space for the rapidly growing brewery.
The addition was constructed with an insulated metal panel exterior and a structural steel frame. The interior clear height is 29 feet to allow for storage of cans and products used in the brewing process. The addition, located behind the main building, is on a sloping site so the ground floor elevation is 20 feet below the main facility and is serviced by a connector link at the main building elevation which opens to a lift platform. The building wall is designed as a 20 foot high cantilevered retaining wall with a 2 foot thick concrete stem. Loading docks at the ground floor level were provided for additional shipping and delivery capacity.
Through our association with Division 5 Metals we were able to deliver the project in a design-build format which allowed the project to be completed within the Owners critical time frame and to everyone’s benefit.
