In addition to local, state and federal permitting, TFMoran provided survey, site/civil design and construction phase services, including environmental monitoring for Eversource, and full-time construction services as the Unitil owner’s representative throughout the duration of this two-year joint substation project. Construction of two new substations in the area of Concord known as “Broken Ground” was needed to meet the expected load growth requirements of Concord and neighboring communities and to increase the reliability and operating flexibility of the electrical distribution system. In addition to the new Unitil’s Broken Ground substation, and Eversource’s Curtisville transmission substation, the project included a .75-mile distribution line to connect the Broken Ground substation to the existing electrical distribution grid.
