Dylan Cruess Participates in Special Olympics of New Hampshire Penguin Plunge!

Dylan Cruess participated in the Penguin Plunge on February 11th, 2024. This fundraiser for Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) took place at Hampton Beach, NH, where thousands of participants plunged into the freezing water of the Atlantic.

Dylan, dressed as a TFM surveyor (hard hat and all!) was among the first in his group to make it into the water, running and jumping in with a belly flop! Dylan raised $695 for SONH, whose mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These continuing opportunities help develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event, supporting the mission of Special Olympics New Hampshire.

TFMoran Sponsors Henniker/Weare FIRST Robotics Team

TFMoran is sponsoring Hopkinton High School and John Stark Regional High School’s FIRST Robotics Team OzRam 1922 for the 2024 Season. The team consists of students from Weare, Henniker, and Hopkinton, participating in the global FIRST Robotics Program. Each season, the team builds a robot from materials including mechanical gears, motors, and software to compete with other regional and worldwide teams in the yearly FIRST Robotics Challenge.

Last year, the team made it to the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas, competing against almost 700 robotics teams from around the world.

This program relies on financial sponsorships to support team activities. Sponsorship allows the team to attend local, regional (and hopefully international) events, update components for their robots, equip their lab, and help promote STEM!

Best of luck this season, OzRam 1922!

TFMoran Kicks Off United Way Employee Fundraising Campaign

TFMoran has partnered with the New Hampshire Chapter of United Way in kicking off our third annual Employee Fundraising Campaign!

TFMoran held a lunchtime party on Monday, November 13th to kick off our annual fundraising campaign. We were joined by Holly Maki of Granite United Way and Robert Tourigny of NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire. Holly Maki spoke to us about the resources Granite United Way offers to help those in need throughout the region, and where the money goes. Robert Tourigny also spoke to us about NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire, a non-profit that TFM has worked with on multiple projects, bringing affordable housing to Manchester and the southern New Hampshire region.

This employee fundraising campaign makes it easy to donate through Granite United Way’s website by making a payroll pledge. Employees can have their preferred amount automatically deducted from their pay to contribute to the non-profit cause of their choice.

United Way helps more than 48 million people a year by boosting education, economic solutions, and health resources in 95% of U.S. communities and 37 countries and territories.

Last year, TFMoran employees donated close to $2,000 through this campaign!

TFMoran Supports Friends Program “Home Stretch” Emergency Housing Renovation

TFMoran is supporting the Friends Program in their “Home Stretch” emergency housing renovation.

The Home Stretch Campaign is a 3-part shelter expansion and renovation project that aims to increase the number of families who may be assisted and create a comfortable space to decrease the emotional stress of emergency housing.

The Friends Emergency Housing family shelter is not a long-term housing solution, but the closer to “home” that a temporary room can feel, the easier it is for families, especially children, to settle in and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.
Families accounted for nearly forty percent of all people experiencing homelessness in New Hampshire in 2021, and the Friends Program is one of few permanent programs offering shelter year round to families in the greater Concord area. The construction of a ninth bedroom will connect an additional 15-25 individuals with emergency housing each year, and as the financial impacts of COVID-19 weigh on the wallets of already-struggling families, the Friends Emergency Housing Program is preparing to respond to an increased number of families experiencing homelessness.

Friends Home Stretch

Phase two of the project is currently underway. With the support of the community, the Friends Program will be able to assist an additional 100 to 140 families in the coming years.

TFMoran COO Dylan Cruess attended the phase II groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, September 6th. TFM is a proud supporter of the Friends Program and can’t wait to follow the progress!

Friends Program Emergency Housing has provided a 24-hour, 7 days a week shelter for families since 1980. The program provides intensive, community-based case management and short-term housing, aftercare and outreach services for families at risk of future homelessness. Families are provided with critical, temporary emergency housing, as well as support, education, training and skills that help position them to secure long-term and stable housing for themselves.
