Southern New Hampshire University – A Lasting Partnership

The TFMoran team is a proud and trusted partner to Southern New Hampshire University. For over a decade, our team has provided professional services for numerous projects on their Manchester, NH campus. Below are some project highlights!

Library Learning Commons | 2014: TFMoran provided site design, permitting and land surveying services for a new 3-story 50,000sf Library and Learning Commons. The $18 million building was sited in the center of the campus, next to the dining hall. This central “campus core” helps make SNHU a walkable campus, eliminating the need for new, dedicated parking for this facility. This means we were able to reduce the amount of impervious surfaces that would typically be necessary for a new library of this size.

Tuckerman Hall | 2014: TFMoran provided site design, permitting, and land surveying for a new 20,000 SF footprint, four-story, 308-bed dormitory located on East Side Drive.

New Quad | 2015: TFMoran provided conceptual designs, landscape architecture, land surveying, permitting and civil engineering services to convert an old parking lot into a new green space. The Quad is located in the center of campus, across from the Learning Commons and Library, and Dining Hall, where there is a pedestrian light for safe crossing of North River Road. The space includes new walkways, benches and a vibrant green space, where the parking lot once occupied. The new addition of a black metal archway at the top of the stairs displays the University’s iconic leaf symbol, which is also engraved in a granite circle at the foot of the stairs.

Gustafson Center | 2017: TFMoran provided survey, site/civil engineering and permitting services for a new 2-story welcome center across the street from the University’s main entrance. The Gustafson Center houses Undergraduate Admissions, UC Marketing and the Office of Institutional Advancement.

Monadnock Hall | 2017: TFMoran provided survey, permitting, civil/site engineering and landscape architecture services for a new 4-story dormitory located on East Side Drive on the Southern New Hampshire University campus. The 103,440 SF building contains apartment-style dormitories made up of single and double bedrooms, in total 300 beds.

Kingston Hall | 2017: TFMoran provided survey, permitting, civil/site engineering, and landscape architecture for this new 5-story, 382-bed dormitory at Southern New Hampshire University. The 114,775 sf building is located on the west side of the campus.

Campus Entrance & Archway | 2018: TFMoran provided civil, traffic, and structural engineering, permitting and landscape architecture services for this new south campus entrance at Southern New Hampshire University. The archway, designed by TFM Design, welcomes students, faculty, and visitors at the meeting point of East Side Drive and North River Road, just before the Gustafson Welcome Center.

College of Engineering, Technology and Aeronautics (CETA) Building | 2019: TFMoran provided survey, site design, civil engineering, and permitting for a new 3-story, 67,000sf state-of-the-art academic building located on the west side of Southern New Hampshire University’s campus. The College of Engineering, Technology and Aeronautics (CETA) facility provides classrooms, labs, and hubs for students studying mechanical, electrical, computer, and aeronautical engineering.

Millyard Parking Garage | 2019: TFMoran provided survey, civil/site engineering, structural engineering, permitting and landscape architecture services for a new 6-story parking facility in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire. It provides nearly 1,700 parking spaces in the southern end of the millyard area. This new precast concrete structure, located at the corner of South Commercial Street and Line Drive, provides parking for Southern New Hampshire University’s online program and administrative offices housed in the adjacent Langer Place mill.

Each and every project is important to the TFMoran team. We feel it’s a testament to our work ethic and quality when we are called on again and again by the same client. It’s a real honor to build a lasting relationships with such great institution!

The event took place on the top floor where there are beautiful views of the Merrimack River and the City. The six-story garage is located near Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, home of Minor League Baseball’s New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and the Hilton Garden Inn on South Commercial Street. It will provide parking for SNHU employees and for the public. TFMoran sponsors SNHU Penmen for Patriots 5k to help NH Veterans

TFMoran once again showed support for the Southern New Hampshire University “Penmen for Patriots 5k” by sponsoring the road race. This annual event, held on November 3, 2018, supported Veterans Count, a program of Easterseals which “provide resources and services to veterans, service members and their families. Easterseals Military and Veterans Services, in conjunction with Veterans Count, developed a one-of-a-kind program which has a proven track record of helping service members and their families with a wide range of family, personal and financial needs.”

The rainy weather wasn’t enough to discourage supporters from running the race which took place on the beautiful SNHU Manchester/Hooksett campus. TFMoran’s Jenn Clark, Maureen Kelly, Shaun Vando, Jeff Tate, Dylan Cruess along with his daughter Cate, all participated to show their support for a great cause.

Other supporting companies included Able Ebenezer Brewing Company, who provided a free beer to all participants over the age of 21, for a well-deserved post-5k beverage. American Flatbread Company provided pizza; Coca Cola of Northern New England provided nonalcoholic refreshments, while Stonyfield Organic brought yogurt to the event to help runners fuel up before the race. The first 400 registrants also received complimentary long sleeve shirts, as a memento. Thanks to all the local sponsors for making this a fun-filled, successful event for such a worthy program.

TFMoran principals give thanks at the Annual Harvest Lunch on the campus of SNHU

The principals of TFMoran, Bob Duval, Dylan Cruess, Jeff Kevan, Paul Sbacchi and Corey Colwell, thanked their staff this holiday season by hosting the annual “Harvest Lunch” on the day before Thanksgiving. This year the lunch was held on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University at the new Gustafson Center. The principals thought it would be a nice opportunity for the staff to see many of the new projects on campus that TFMoran engineers, surveyors and landscape architects have provided services for, including the Gustafson Center. TFMoran’s Portsmouth division joined in the festive celebration, making the attendance around 70 people.

The event started with a delightful assortment of appetizers and beverages during the social hour, and a group photo taken by John Gauvin of Studio One. Sodexo caterers prepared a holiday lunch buffet which included a sirloin carving station, chicken parmesan served with pasta, and stuffed portobello mushrooms, accompanied by roasted potatoes, harvest salad and butternut squash soup. After lunch, the staff was treated to a dessert tri-level tray of pumpkin whoopee pies, raspberry mousse in chocolate cups, and strawberry cream eclairs. Everything was delightful!

TFMoran’s president Bob Duval followed the lunch with a speech on his gratitude towards the entire team in providing the hard work and dedication that makes TFMoran a success. He gave special thanks to Administrative Assistant, Joe Sears, for his 40 dedicated years to TFMoran. Bob presented Joe with a gift of appreciation, and wished him the best as he retires in December.

Concluding the lunch was COO, Dylan Cruess who spoke of the company’s many accomplishments over the past year, including the NHBR Best of Business Award in Engineering for the 5th straight year, and the 2017 Business Excellence Award.  Dylan attributed the recognition TFMoran receives from the community to the involvement of the staff, inside and outside of work.

Many thanks to Southern New Hampshire University and Sodexo for providing a great venue for this special event. It is always a great way to lead into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, as we give thanks to our family and friends.
