At TFMoran, we are proud to support young athletes who are making a difference both on and off the ice. This year, we are excited to sponsor Addison Roy’s participation in the A Shot For Life Classic, a premier event that brings together some of the top high school hockey players from Northern New England while raising funds for brain cancer research. Addi personally raised more than $1,000, contributing to the event’s impressive total of approximately $90,000 raised for brain cancer research!
As the daughter of TFMoran Principal and Senior Structural Engineer Kyle Roy, Addi has grown up understanding the value of hard work, dedication, and community involvement. A talented student-athlete, she was recently selected to participate in the A Shot For Life Family Program and the Northern New England All-Star Gameāan honor that recognizes both her hockey abilities and her character.
Balancing Academics, Athletics, and Community Impact
Like many student-athletes, Addi juggles a busy schedule of academics, hockey, and extracurricular commitments. While balancing these responsibilities can be challenging, she views it as an opportunity to strengthen her time-management skills and prepare for future success.
“As a student-athlete, you have to give your all in everything you do,” Addi shared. “Balancing school and hockey isn’t always easy, but it’s helped me learn how to manage my time and stay focused.”
A Well-Deserved Opportunity
When Addi learned she had been selected for the A Shot For Life Family Program, she was thrilled.
“I was really excited,” she said. “It’s an amazing opportunity to meet new people, play with talented athletes, and give back to a great cause.”
The selection process included not only evaluating players’ skills on the ice but also learning about them as individuals. Being chosen to compete among some of the region’s top players gave Addison a significant confidence boost and reinforced the hard work she has put into her sport.
Using Hockey to Make a Difference
One of the most meaningful aspects of the A Shot For Life Classic is its mission. The organization raises funds for brain cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital, helping support patients, families, and future breakthroughs in treatment.
“Hockey has always been a huge part of my life,” Addi explained. “I’m excited that I can use something I’m passionate about to help people who are going through difficult situations and support such an important cause.”
Looking Forward to the Experience
As the event approaches, Addi is eager to take advantage of everything the A Shot For Life Classic has to offer.
On the ice, she’s looking forward to competing alongside talented players from New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont in a fun, high-level environment. Off the ice, she’s excited to build new friendships, connect with fellow athletes, and contribute to an event that positively impacts families affected by brain cancer.
“I’m excited to meet new people and have fun playing hockey without the pressure,” she said. “But I’m also looking forward to knowing that what we’re doing is helping families and supporting important research.”
Advice for Future Athletes
For other young athletes hoping to excel in their sport while making a difference in their communities, Addi offers simple but meaningful advice:
“Have fun and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there,” she said. “Getting involved in something like A Shot For Life takes you outside your comfort zone, but it’s worth it when you’re helping a great cause. Every little bit of support can make a difference.”
Addi is proud that the funds raised through her participation will help advance brain cancer research and support future patients and families. She is excited to see the continued growth of the A Shot For Life Classic and the impact it will have for years to come.
TFMoran is honored to support Addi in this incredible opportunity and wishes her the best of luck at the A Shot For Life Classic. We look forward to cheering her on as she represents her community, her teammates, and an important cause.
